Trail Coffee Creek Streamway Trail
Overview The 3.4-mile Coffee Creek Streamway Trail begins near Switzer Road in Overland Park and gently winds through forested groves, over streams and beside soybean fields on its way to Heritage Park in Olathe. Vehicles can be parked at Verhaeghe Park on the east side and at Heritage Lake on the west. This paved 6.8-mile out-and-back borders neighborhoods, but also veers into agricultural solitude, leaving only the sound of the creek and the breeze. Sometimes the tree line opens up, allowing walkers to splash around in the creek or view a waterfall (follow the trail east from Verhaeghe Park about one-half mile and listen and look for a waterfall on Coffee Creek). Much of the trail is exposed, so be prepared for the sun (or wind in winter).
