Overview
Prairie Park Nature Center is a quiet, 100-acre nature refuge in east Lawrence. Its habitats include restored prairie, woodlands, wetlands and a small lake. The park also includes an interactive visitors center oriented toward youth education that features live animals and exhibits. Outside the center, the park is an excellent location to view wildlife.
Length Paved and natural surface loops total about two miles. To walk further, retrace the loops.

Conditions This is a level trail with sections that are both paved and natural surface. It’s well-maintained and easy to follow.
Kid friendly? This is an easy walk; paved sections are stroller-friendly. Parents will need to supervise small children near the pond. There are play areas near the visitor center.
How busy? This is a generally quiet park, but school tours make it busier.

Restrooms are available in the visitors center during office hours. There is also a restroom in the east parking lot off of Kensington Road.
