Catch River and City Views on the Berkley Riverfront Trail
The Berkley Riverfront Trail is a paved trail offering scenic views of the river and the Kansas City skyline. A highlight is the observation deck on the Town of Kansas Bridge (which is not really a bridge), giving a multi-story view of the river and points north, east and west. You’ll also pass under the Heart of America motorist and railroad bridges, which span the Missouri River.
Urban Woods: Gorman Conservation Center & Kauffman Legacy Park
In the heart of the city lies a conservation discovery center, just east of the Country Club Plaza. The 10-acre Gorman Center is a beautifully manicured display of native habitats including woods, wetland and prairie. There are also nature-oriented play areas for children to explore. It lies within the larger Kauffman Legacy Park, created by the Kauffman Foundation. The park borders the Kauffman campus and features a trail that loops Kauffman Legacy Lake and leads to The Ewing and Muriel Kauffman Memorial Garden. This trail intersects with the Brush Creek Trail, allowing visitors to walk to The Country Club Plaza.
